Franklin Document Services is a premier source for "color copying" or digital color printing (as almost nobody makes copies anymore). We have 2 digital color printers that allow us to print on up to 14pt thick cardstock and they both have very good print quality.
We can produce up to 6,700 color prints per hour which is why we are a leader in Las Vegas for color copying and printing.
We also offer a few different paper options. Our 28lb laser paper is the standard. Then we just started using a new silk/dull coated stock which prints very nicely. We also offer a standard 100lb gloss book/text weight paper for flyers, sales sheets, catalogs, and booklets. For a thicker stock you can choose the 100lb gloss cover or 100lb silk/dull cover stock which is an intermediate cardstock. If you need a thick stock then you need our 14pt gloss cover or 120lb silk/dull cover.
The advantage to digital printing is that it is very quick. We can get 1,000 full color full page flyers printed on both sides within 2 hours! You just can't do that with a traditional printing press. On the other hand a printing presses advantage is that it is cost effective. Digital is normally good for up to about 2,500 pieces and then after that a press is the way to go. The only catch is that with our press the standard turnaround time is 5-7 business days. However we can get any job done no matter what it takes and that is the advantage to Franklin Document Services.
Here at Franklin Document Services we can produce 22,800 black & white prints per hour or over 180,000 per 8 hour shift! We are one of the fastest black & white copying companies in Las Vegas and we often operate 24/7. We also maintain 4 high-speed black & white machines so that we can continue producing even if 3 machines need a repair. For black & white copying we typically use a very earth friendly paper, Domtar Earthchoice. This is a 20lb standard copy paper but it is green and very enviromentally friendly. It does cost us about 12% more than a regular copy paper that isn't enviromentally friendly but we incur that cost because we want to give back to the environment and do our part to be green. In addtion this paper is much nicer than economy copy paper and it runs much better through our black & white machines which prevents jamming and keeps the quality of your printed material higher.

Binding & Document Finishing
When it comes to how to finish or bind your documents it is important to use the right application. Franklin Documents has a variety of binding options that will work well with what you are trying to do. We have cost effective options like tape binding and comb binding. We also have modern option like metal wire binding or the ever popular plastic coil binding which is also available in a variety of colors. Then there is the magazine staple which is quite commong for booklets and catalogs. Finally we can provide short run publications and use soft-bound or hard bound book binding.
If you want our recommendation the best type of bindings are the coil bind because the pages turn the easiest in this application and the document will last quite a while. The wire bind has the most modern look but is not good for thick books over say 100 sheets of paper. The magazine staple is a good application for up to a booklet with about 80 pages. After that you will want to use the soft-bound binding. Tape and comb binding are good for a cost effective binding application but these typically don't last longer than 6 months of average usage. The hard bound binding is really only recommended for high-level presentations and it is much more expensive than all the other binding applications.
The quickest binding application is the tape binding and the coil binding. We actually have a machine that will punch the coil sheets at up to 15,000 sheets per hour. In addtion we will always get your project done no matter what obstacles come up. The magazine staple is also fairly quick unless there are a lot of pages in your booklet.

Document scanning is vary cost effective when you think about the fact that it is a one time investment and it will protect you from lawsuits from clients or individuals if you do lose their documents. We typically scan into PDF format at 150 dpi which is good for reading on screen and is pretty good for printing documents. We can scan at higher resolutions but this will take up much more electronic storage space.
